What is the difference between and English and American Labrador???

English vs. American Labradors

I have spent MANY hours reading what the difference is between an "English" and "American" Labrador.
Some would say it is based on where they are born.
Some would say it is based on what they look like.
Some don't even call them English and American but rather a show breed and a field breed.
I will tell you what I have found and let you decide.

English/Show Lab
American/Field Lab
Shorter legs
Longer legs
Shorter muzzle
Longer muzzle
Has a thicker body
Has a thinner body
Has a wider head
Has a skinnier head
Has a short "otter" tail
Has a long thin tail
Has a thicker coat
Has a thinner coat

This will identify the "look" of the dog, but can't help you with the temperament, trainability or health of a dog.
This is done by talking to a breeder, finding out about the parents, and seeing the dog.
Now you have some information about the "style" of a Labrador to help you find what you're looking for.
